The race over 113 kilometers demanded a lot from the riders. Immediately after the start, the course climbed steeply up the Cauberg. In the end, it was cross specialist Timo Kielich who coped best with the varied course conditions around the Shimano Experience Center. The 23-year-old Belgian from Team Crelan-Fristads relied on his Super Prestige for the race.
With a strong attack on the Keutenberg, Timo left his competitors no chance and so the STEVENS rider crossed the finish line in first place after 3 hours 14 minutes with a lead of over 50 seconds over Cameron Mason. Another STEVENS rider, Jens Adams, also a cross specialist, just missed the podium with 4th place after the long race.
Marcel Meisen (STEVENS Racing Team) had to struggle with flat tire trouble. He fell far behind in a promising position, but was finally able to finish the race in 61st place. Marcel has already qualified for the World Championship.
