Can a pedelec be a touring sportster?

Of course it can! For the E-Triton STEVENS goes all the way: Bosch Performance Line CX e-motor with sensational 500Wh battery, Shimano 10-speed shifting and hydraulic disc brakes, dedicated pedelec suspension fork with reinforced stanchion tubes and thru-axle, LED lights with daytime running function ... only the beautifully welded aluminium frame is an low-key appearance while at the same time contributing to a slim 22.6kg overall weight.

  • Sporty pedelec w/ Deore XT/SLX 10-speed drivetrain
  • Powerful Bosch Performance CX system with 250 W and 75 Nm – plus 500 Wh rechargeable battery
  • Load-capable designed frame tubes made of aluminium 6061
  • Forma version w/ semi-integrated battery for lower center of gravity
  • Precise Shimano BR-M6000 disc brakes

Technology

QR15 Front Thru-Axle

"15" stands for the diameter in millimeters, "QR" for quick release. Combined they are the most useful method to fix the front wheel to the (suspension) fork. With convincing advantages: high stiffness, precise positioning of the brake disc and super-easy handling. So STEVENS specs almost all its mountain bikes and even high-quality trekking bikes, cross bikes and pedelecs with a thru-axle. Additionally, especially with 29" MTBs axle spacing is increased from 100 to 110 mm which makes the design even stiffer.

500 Wh Battery

This will decide success or failure of e-mobility. That's why STEVENS uses batteries with a huge 500 Watt-hour capacity in all its top-notch pedelecs for up to 215 km of range (according to the manufacturer, please refer to the Bosch range calculator for more exact results). This is possible even without a weight penalty: Compared to the old PowerPack 400, the new Bosch PowerPack 500 is just 100 grams heavier. This huge "fuel tank" is our premier recommendation for pedelec riders who don't shy away from the hilliest of itineraries.

Integrated Pannier Rack Mount dropout

In collaboration with pannier rack specialists Tubus and Racktime STEVENS' engineers have developed a dropout that also serves as an elegant pannier rack mount. It not only looks fantastic, it also ensures that forces caused by luggage or large amounts of groceries are evenly transmitted inot the frame - resulting in a more stable and safer design.

Even when you can't see the strut that connects the pannier rack to the fender - it is there. The strut runs below the fender and provides - in connection with the rack mounted to the fender - more stability and lateral stiffness.

Tire clearance up to 47 mm

Those who are riding on rougher surfaces now can mount up to 47 mm wide tires to benefit from more comfort and flat protection that derive from their larger volume, and that can be ridden with lower pressure. Frame and fork are already prepared accordingly.

Tapered Seat Tube

The seat tube tapers from top to bottom. At the top it fits a slim 27.2mm seatpost that offers some flex and therefore increases comfort especially when riding over rough ground. At the bottom the large diameter nicley flows into the bottom bracket shell and downtube to provide great stiffness and drivetrain efficiency.

Handlebar Mounted Head Light

Handlebar Mounted Head Light

The elevated positioning of the head light in front of the handlebar display provides an improved illumination of the road ahead of you, because the front tire won't cast a shadow. And this is good because on our speed pedelecs you'll be going faster than you were used to.

Hydroforming

Using water or oil pressure aluminium tubes are transformed from their original round shape into their ideal shape determined by STEVENS engineers to perfectly withstand any load without any weight penalty. Riders of allround bikes and pedelecs will benefit from a better stability caused by hydroforming even when they are touring with heavy luggage.

Tapered Steerer / Tapered Headtube

Fork shaft (or steerer tube) and head tube are tapered, meaning their diameter increases from top to bottom resulting in a conical shape. The diameter needs to be bigger at the bottom since this is where higher stress is applied - especially when the bike has a higher total weight due to luggage or an e-drive and battery. Also tapered steerers feature a smoother force transfer (like forces caused by hard braking) to the downtube than forks with a continuous 1 1/8" diameter.

Triple Butted, Double Butted

Meaning a frame tube has three or two different wall thicknesses along its length. Triple butted (TB) is the usual technology with STEVENS high-quality frames.
Tubes with different wall thicknesses are optimally adjusted to certain ways of manufacturing or to withstand specific loads. Where the highest loads occur or where tubes are welded, walls are the thickest. Butted tubes allow frame weight to be lower by several hundred grams.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes (Trekking)

There is no more reliable brake system than hydraulic disc brakes - that is why we strongly advice everyone, who is riding their cross, trekking- or city bike 12 months a year to choose one of our models with the „DISC“ suffix. Brake power is easy to modulate and does not fade a bit in the wet. Also the brakes are almost maintenance-free. And your local STEVENS dealer will gladly explain to you what you need to take care of when removing and re-installing a wheel
