While cyclo-cross exceptional pro Mathieu van der Poel rides STEVENS’ top-class carbon racer Super Prestige, editors of Cycling.be grilled the aluminum version Prestige: “The bike is specced solidly and furthermore offers the opportunity to mount mudguards“, testers said and concluded: “With the Prestige, STEVENS offers a reliable and sporty commuter bike which does also work in cross-country terrain (or vice versa).“
According to them the cyclo-cross bike was a very direct ride that reacts swiftly to handlebar movements and accelerations. “Neither fast bends and narrow curves nor climbing and intermediate sprints are a problem for the Prestige“, editors enthused. Though the bike with its 9.3 kg of weight was not exactly a featherweight, there were “no signs of sluggishness.“
As the riding position was a little more relaxed than on its bigger brother Super Prestige, Prestige was a comfortable ride. With a frame choice comprising eight sizes every rider should find a match, testers were confident.
Prestige was state-of-the-art technology-wise which could be seen from the 12 mm quick-release axles, flatmount drop-outs as well as from the strong 160 mm disc brakes.
The group set – a mix of Shimano’s 105 and Ultegra – was working as reliably as ever. The gear ratio with 11-28 teeth at the rear and 46-36 at the front was a classic that worked.
The handlebar by STEVENS own label Scorpo was comfortable to grab – “There remains no more to ask for”, testers wrote who concluded:
“STEVENS Prestige clearly is a solid cross bike that can be converted into an everyday ride by mounting mudguards. It is reliable, fast and versatile and a more than comfortable ride.”
STEVENS Prestige in neon yellow is available in sizes 47, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60 and 62 cm.
