First one-day race after the Tour of Luxemburg was the Grand Prix Aargau – Gippingen in Switzerland on June 6th. In the race categorized as UCI 1.HC, Sean de Bie in a bunch sprint missed the podium by a margin. In the same time as winner Alexander Kristoff the rouleur sprinted to 4th place after 185.9km over a quite hilly course which resulted in additional 100 UCI points for him and the team.

One day later the second part of the team took their STEVENS Xenon to the start of a regional race in Ruddervoorde, West Flanders – and two of them, Tim Merlier and Stijn Steels were the first to cross the finish line ahead of Nikolas Maes of Lotto-Soudal.

The following Sunday it was Tim Merlier again to make the most of his sprinting capabilities at the Ronde van Limburg (UCI 1.1). Usually a cyclocross specialist, on the mostly flat 200km course he finishes third behind Mathieu van der Poel and Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis. Senne Leysen also made the podium – and he was awarded the most combative rider due of his efforts in a break-away group.

At the classic Rund um Köln (Tour of Cologne, UCI 1.1), Germany’s oldest bike race, it was Sean de Bie again to represent the Pro Continental team’s colours in the finale. In Cologne, too the race ended in a bunch sprint after 207 quite hilly kilometres through the Bergische Land region.
Before Verandas Willems-Crelan will take part in the Tour of Austria mid-July, it will compete in further one-day races of the 1.1 category like the ”Dwars door het Hageland – Aarschot” and the ”Elfstedenronde”, where as planned, Wout van Aert will again be a part of the team.
