With her 1st place at the Parkcross in Maldegem, which is part of the Ethias series, Team 777 rider Annemarie was able to get some redemption for missing the World Championships due to a positive Corona test just before leaving for the race. With a 25-second margin over World Championships 6th placed rider, Manon Bakker (IKO-Crelan), the Dutch pre-event favourite secured the victory in the women's elite class in superior style. After some heated final stages of the race it was Aniek van Alphen (Team 777) who crossed the finish line in 3rd, just behind Manon, to make it a full STEVENS Bikes podium sweep.
A day later and at Sunday's Krawatencross in Lille, Belgium, part of the X2O series, Annemarie was able to secure a 2nd place just behind the reigning European Champion despite somewhat tired legs after Saturday's event. On the technical, rain-soaked course Manon Bakker missed the podium and finished 4th, 21 seconds behind the podium spots, while Saturday's 3rd placed Aniek van Alphen finished one second behind Manon in 5th place. After seven out of eight races Annemarie is now sitting 3rd overall in the championship.
In the U23 men's race, Mees Hendrikx claimed the runner-up spot after a strong 4th-place finish at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas a week ago. Over in the Junior category, newly crowned Junior Vice-World Champion, Aaron Dockx, who missed the gold medal by just one second in Fayetteville, finished on a strong 2nd place in Lille.
In a different part of Europe and in torrential rain it was STEVENS Racing Team riders Luca Bockelmann, Frederik Havemeister, Jens Schwedler and Lars Erdmann who came out in swing at their respective races at the City-Cross Hamburg. In very difficult track conditions on the horse racecourse in Hamburg-Horn, that challenged man and machine due to the sheer wetness and very low temperatures, Luca was able to finish 1st in the Elite class, Frederik came out on top in the U19 class, while Jens Schwedler - in his World Champion jersey - took the victory in the Master 3 category. Behind Jens, it was Stefan Danowski who secured himself a 2nd place finish. Lars Erdmann emerged victorious in the Masters 4 race and Larissa Luttuschka ended the day on a great runner-up spot in the Women's Elite race.
