At the second round of the Exact Cross series in Essen, Belgium, Laurens Sweeck and Marion Norbert-Riberolle were able to hold their own and cross the finish line first on their STEVENS Super Prestige. Joran Wyseure secured 1st place in the opening race of the Superprestige series in Ruddervorde (BEL).
At the Exact Cross on Saturday, Laurens Sweeck won the final sprint against Niels Vandeputte after Sweeck had already been part of a seven-man lead group at the start of the race. On the final lap, Sweeck and Vandeputte managed to break away from the group and ultimately take his first win of the season. Just four seconds behind Niels Vandeputte, another STEVENS rider, Jens Adams (Athletes for Hope), finished on the podium.
There was a double victory in the elite women's race. Marion Norbert-Riberolle was able to break away from a group of six in the penultimate lap and go into the final lap with a good 20-second lead. At the end of the 45-minute race, Marion crossed the finish line eight seconds ahead of her team-mate Sara Casasola, taking her first win of the season after two second places at the Exact Cross in Behringen and the Brumath Bike Festival in France.
At the season opener of the Belgian Superprestige series, Joran Wyseure (Crelan-Corendon) prevailed in the final sprint. From the start, Joran was part of a four-man lead group and was able to break away in the final phase, ultimately finishing with a two-second lead.
