STEVENS was a landmark in cyclocross, pros like Mathieu van der Poel and Sanne Cant won the most races of the previous season riding the Super Prestige, ”including four of seven Men’s World Cup races, the GC of three women’s race series and six national championships.”
Not to forget Sanne Cant becoming the 2017 World Champion on her Super Prestige.
Fiets Magazine begins its test by listing all these successes only to raise expectations for the new STEVENS Super Prestige Disc (at the time the European championships with three victories aboard Super Prestige hadn’t taken place, yet). The 2018 model fulfilled these expectations.
The new Super Prestige was completely redesigned for the current season and is now only available in a disc version. Fiets’ editors tested the Super Prestige in size 58 and said: ”The bike has become even racier. Compared to our 2015 test bike it lost 300 grams of weight and almost qualifies as a pure race bike.”
Especially in the road test the high end ’crosser excelled and convinced the editors who put it in first place in this category. ”The STEVENS offers a stretched-out riding position, climbs and descends very smoothly and corners securely, the STEVENS can do everything”, the testers said.
Top marks were also awarded for the overall appearance and quality of craftsmanship: ”The top tube is slightly sloping, the rear triangle offers enough clearance for mud not to get stuck. Also new is internal cable routing for the front derailleur through the down tube,” the editors pointed out while also being impressed by the sophisticated chain catcher and further specs like the DT Swiss C1800 wheels, 33mm tubeless Challenge Grifo Open tires, 160mm brake discs and Shimano group: ”Despite this being no Di2, the mechanical Ultegra in our opinion does the job just as well,” the editors say. They eventually not only call the STEVENS Super Prestige Disc a ”must buy” but also make it number one overall of the four high-end ’cross bikes tested.
Conclusion: ”The STEVENS Super Prestige Disc has become even racier and almost passes as a road bike. It excels in the road test and with nice technical details.”
The STEVENS Super Prestige Disc with mechanical Ultegra group is available in sizes 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 60cm in either in Ink Black or Fire Orange design for 3,099 Euros. With electronic Ultegra Di2 the Super Prestige Disc Di2 sells for 3,999 Euros. The frameset alone will cost you for 1,499 Euros.
