From August 31 to September 4, we presented more than 200 new and optimized models to qualified specialist trade and media at international, leading bicycle fair in Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance. Furthermore, STEVENS team was ready to answer cycling enthusiasts’ questions on the new models at Eurobike Festivaldays on the weekend of September 3 and 4, and handed out numerous new test bikes at our stand in demo area.
Most new models were on the test track by noon due to great late summer weather. Among them also new STEVENS e-mountain bikes with Shimano Steps E8000 motor that did not only draw attention because of their elegant shape and sporty riding characteristics, but also because they were only available at few other stands already.
The expanded test tracks at demo area that replaced Eurobike Demoday that used to take place before the opening of the fair were open the entire fair. A successful adjustment as this way the numerous dealers and specialist journalists could test and get to know new models without pressure the entire time. Traditional refreshment was offered on the first evening of the fair: numerous STEVENS dealers and friends of the company accepted our invitation and attended the traditional ox dinner.
Crammed STEVENS stand, empty test stocks
More than 200 optimized and new STEVENS bikes were presented on a stand area that had been extended once again. The significantly enlarged range of full-suspension bikes including STEVENS Jura, Whaka and Sledge models with a suspension of 120 to 170 millimeters were accordingly prominently positioned. Opposite of them the new e-hardtails with Bosch CX Performance motor were placed as well as e-full-suspension bikes with new Shimano Steps E8000 motor. It was not surprising that Yozo Shimano, president of Shimano Inc., and Bernd Lange, executive director of German Shimano importer Paul Lange & Co., took a closer look at them when they were shown around our stand by STEVENS chief executive officers Wolfgang von Hacht and Fred Schierenbeck.
STEVENS MTB Racing Team riders Veronika Brüchle, Alessandro Sepp, Steffen Weisenseel and team manager Joachim Oechsner took a very close look at the optimized STEVENS Sonora SL with Boost axle standard and Fox Step Cast fork as well as at Whaka Carbon Max with a suspension of 160/150 millimeters.
Fair with a theme and good basic atmosphere
STEVENS head of distribution, Rainer König, summarizes: Without any doubt Eurobike lived up to its reputation to be the world’s leading bicycle fair. Our stand was crammed for five days! Three days for specialist dealers and two days for the general public – this concept was new and worked very well for STEVENS. Most of our national and international dealers were on site to take a look at our novelties for the upcoming season. Brand-new carbon full-suspension bikes of the Jura and Whaka series were only one of the numerous highlights. Our e-mountain bike series was a big hit as well. E-mountain bikes are very popular with our dealers just like with many cycling enthusiast who tested them during public days. We are looking forward to the new bicycle season.“
Volker Dohrmann, head of strategy, products and marketing, adds: “The dealer quantity at Eurobike was very good, we had time for consultations and atmosphere was good. We expect order behavior to be on previous year’s level. We stand by Eurobike and like the location. Atmosphere and test options cannot be realized in a big town.”
While Saturday’s evening program was on, atmosphere was incomparably positive. Besides test opportunities and lots of live music, Eurocross race around the festival area provided race feeling – and for STEVENS, the commanding victory of Michael Schweizer of STEVENS Racing Team meant some extra joy at the end of an eventful fair.
