The base for many current everyday racers are the sporty gravel bikes, multifunctional bicycles with curved "drop-down" handlebars that combine the agile handling of a road bike with off-road capabilities. In combination with powerful lighting and practical mudguards, these bikes transform into nimble randonneurs, i.e. bikes that can be used to cover long distances at high speed and with a certain amount of loading.
Speed is then also the designated motto of the Supreme Pro, because "A strictly sporty character is deeply anchored in Stevens' DNA", writes the MYBIKE magazine, referring to STEVENS' long tradition in road and cross cycling, which is also reflected in the design of the Supreme Pro. "The seating position is sporty due to the high saddle cant [...], it is rather long and low at the front", the test editors note. This makes "the Supreme Pro [...] the latest interpretation of a fast, efficient riding machine that gets cyclists from A to B quickly", according to the MYBIKE editors.
The be-all and end-all for a fast bike like the Supreme Pro is precise handling, even with a heavy load. "To achieve this, Stevens combines a stiff aluminium frame that offers space for four bottles or panniers with an aluminium rigid fork that rides quite stiffly", say the test riders. A pleasant side effect according to the MYBIKE editors: "The bike is a little more manoeuvrable than its competitors" and also achieves top marks in riding safety.
The high-quality wheels with 40 millimetre wide Schwalbe G-One all-round tyres also play a part in this. "Thanks to the wide tread tyres, the Stevens sails smoothly over both asphalt and gravel roads", MYBIKE magazine notes, as the multifunctional tyres cover a wide range of uses, from riding on top-flat cycle paths to light off-road terrain.
The complete Shimano GRX groupset with high-quality GRX 810-series rear and front derailleurs, GRX 600 crankset and GRX-series hydraulic brakes ensures reliable forward drive and safe deceleration in everyday use. The "drivetrain and brakes work precisely and effectively", according to the MYBIKE test editors. The bike's practical specification is complemented by "dynamo light and mudguards as well as mounting points for racks and rear stands", which "enable versatile everyday use" of the bike, which is one of the lightest in the test field despite the full touring kit with lights and mudguards. In the MYBIKE review only a bike with a carbon frame is lighter.
But the bike is not only recommended for swift commuting, "The fast Supreme [Pro] is in its element on demanding road tours, also in the highlands, which can sometimes be a bit longer", say the test editors. And the MYBIKE editors came to the same conclusion: the STEVENS Supreme Pro is a "consistent bike concept for everyday use, touring and training".
