On February 1, 2015, Mathieu van der Poel won the cross World Championship on STEVENS Super Prestige Disc Di2. At the beginning of this season the editors of FIETS tested the bike in the laboratory and in practice. Mathieu van der Poel was at this time still in restoration training after his knee injury, but returned even stronger in December.
The editors liked the internal cable routing and the low weight of the STEVENS Super Prestige Di2 frameset of less than two kilograms right away. On the test stand the World Champion’s bike scored well: “A bike which can be steered through bends like on rails and is made for riding at high speeds, too. A rocket”, the editors summarized.
The frame was solid, the electronic Di2 groupset worked as reliably as the strong disc brakes whose initial squeaking disappeared after some small adjustments. The testers liked the elegant look with inner cable routing and the rechargeable battery of the electronic groupset being integrated into the seat post. Although the editors considered the „mast topper a little faint when hopping on and off the bike“, but it was generally a good thing that the seat post was no longer integrated, something which had been changed in 2013.
With this frameset you’d get the “pride of STEVENS’ cross range”. Also because of its striking look Super Prestige Disc Di2 made quite an impression, as besides the colors Team White and Lime Green the bike is also available in Camouflage, just like the one Mathieu van der Poel rides.
“A striking design which screams: ‘Here I am!’ and maybe causes a greater stir than Mathieu himself. At least until he rides it in a race.” The grand appearance was completed by the “R24” wheels by DT Swiss with white Challenge Grifo Open tires.
Conclusion: A reliable frame, high grip tires. Super Prestige was “in this version the perfect bike for riders looking for a ‘lowland mountainbike’ on which you have to do nothing but focus on riding.”
STEVENS Super Prestige Disc Di2 is available in sizes 50, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 centimeters and in a classic version with manual gearshift and Cantilever brakes at specialist STEVENS dealers.
