The MYBIKE editors particularly highlighted the bike's low-maintenance drivetrain, which is made up of Shimano's high-quality Alfine 11-speed geared hub and the durable Gates carbon belt drive. "The Alfine 11 is [...] well-suited for efficient power transmission in different landscape profiles [and plays] out its strengths above all in everyday use [...]", say the test editors. And while many comparable city and touring bikes are equipped with derailleur gears – for the purpose of a larger gear range to tackle steeper terrain – the testers find that you can "also tour extensively with a good geared hub [...]".
Another strength of the drivetrain concept is the associated durability of all components. "In terms of low maintenance, it is at the top thanks to the belt drive," says MYBIKE. This keeps running costs for spare parts as well as the frequency of workshop visits within very manageable limits, especially for commuters and frequent riders.
But it is not only the drivetrain that convinced the MYBIKE test editors, the stable frame and the 40 mm wide tyres were also well received. "Together with the laterally stiff frame-fork set and relatively thick, lightly treaded tyres, the Super Flight lets you fly confidently over asphalt and paved natural roads". This makes the bike ideal for those who are not always blessed with the perfect cycle path on their way to work or on a tour at the weekend, but who sometimes ride off the beaten track.
The rider can choose whether he or she prefers to be more comfortable or more sporty on the road. "The seating position is relaxed and sporty and can be tightened by removing individual spacer rings under the stem," say the MYBIKE test riders. Whether the rider adjusts the handlebar position individually or not: "[...] ergonomically, the Stevens is one of the front-runners: the feeling of well-being in the saddle is maintained even on long distances thanks to the brand's mature know-how", say the testers.
And so the Super Flight scores points in many areas - be it the "cultivated handling", the "good agility" or the "low maintenance".
