At the same time, first place also marks her best result of the season, especially as the 25-year-old also left her team-mate and reigning Belgian champion Marion Norbert Riberolle behind.
After the start, Sara Casasola and her team-mates Inge van der Heijden and Marion Norbert Riberolle were able to pull away from the field. Only runner-up Lucinda Brand was able to follow the Crelan-Corendon trio.
After Casasola and Norbert Riberolle were able to separate themselves from the field towards the middle of the race, there was some movement in the leading group on the final lap.
Sara Casasola and Marion Norbert Riberolle swapped positions, while Lucinda Brand tried to keep up. The decision was then made on the last section of the run. Here Casasola was able to make up a lot of time and leave Norbert Riberolle behind. Marion tried to close the gap in the final, but Sara crossed the finish line one second ahead of her team-mate.
Annemarie Worst (Seven Racing) crossed the finish line in 5th place on her STEVENS Superprestige. Sara's Crelan-Corendon team-mates Sanne Cant and Manon Bakker finished seventh and eighth respectively.
Annemarie Worst took second place in the overall standings, while Sara Casasola finished the season in third place.
Sara had already achieved an excellent result on Saturday at the final of the Exact Cross in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, with a second place and laid the foundations for a great season finale. Inge van der Heijden (Crelan-Corendon) snatched the last podium place, Marion Norbert Riberolle and Sanne Cant finished in 5th and 10th place respectively.
In the juniors, STEVENS Racing Team rider Anton Kochanowski rode to a remarkable 10th place in a strong field.
The conclusion of the 2024/25 cyclocross season will take place next weekend at the international Sluitingsprijs in Oostmalle, Belgium.
