On Sunday, at the penultimate round of the X20 Trofee in Lille, Belgium, Laurens Sweeck (Crelan-Corendon) achieved another victory of the season in the final sprint.
After a fast start, the STEVENS Superprestige rider was initially part of a ten-strong leading group that spread out a little on the final lap. Eli Iserbyt was the first rider to start the sprint towards the finish line, but Laurens Sweeck managed to mobilise more energy after a skilfully planned race and was the first to cross the finish line, securing another victory of the season.
STEVENS Superprestige rider Jens Adams (Athletes for Hope) finished seventh, Seven Racing rider Mason Cameron was eighth and Toon Vandebosch (Crelan-Corendon) rounded off a great result for Crelan-Corendon with ninth place.
In the elite women's sprint, victory went to the current runner-up Lucinda Brand, followed by Crelan-Corendon team-mates Inge van der Heijden (2nd place), Manon Baker (3rd place), Sanne Cant (4th place), Annemarie Worst (Seven Racing) (5th place), Marion Norbert Riberolle (Crelan-Corendon) (6th place), Sara Casasola (Crelan-Corendon) (8th place) and Aniek van Alphen (Seven Racing) (9th place), seven STEVENS Super Prestige riders took the next nine places!
In the U23 men's race, 20-year-old Guus van den Eijnden (Seven Racing) rode to an outstanding 2nd place.
Already on Saturday, at the last race of the Superprestige series in Middelkeke, Belgium, the riders of Team Crelan-Corendon and Seven Racing were able to achieve superior results. Inge van der Heijden took victory with a good 13-second lead over Lucinda Brand, while Inge's team-mate Sara Casasola completed the podium with a great third place.
Sanne Cant (Crelan-Corendon), who will hang up her racing helmet at the end of the season, finished some way behind in fourth place. Marion Norbert Riberolle (Crelan-Corendon) and Aniek van Alphen (Seven Racing) also achieved great top 10 results with sixth and ninth place respectively. This means that STEVENS Super Prestige Crossers make up 50 per cent of the top 10 starter field!
