Just by looking at the cockpit the editors were excited: ”The STEVENS E-Scope+ cockpit is sensational. On the left you have a shifter just like you are accustomed to from Di2 that you use to shift between three drive modes and to activate the push-assist.” The Shimano Steps 8000 provided strong forward drive that doesn’t need to shy away from competition, the testers said.
The motor would truly shine when the road becomes really steep. Thanks to the wide, grippy 2.8” tires traction also was plenty even when gradients exceeded 25 percent and more.
A Plus of Traction, Safety and Fun
STEVENS has revamped its e-MTB range for the 2017 season and besides four e-fullies now offers the STEVENS E-Scope+ with the Steps E8000. The 2.8” wide Plus tires were a consistent part of the concept: They offered lot of traction to get the 70Nm (51.5ft-lb) of torque down on the ground which means a plus in safety and therefore more fun.
A Consistent All-Rounder
The great ride feeling was complemented by the E-Scope’s aluminium frame, which ”was very sturdy and transferred the high torque amplified by the 70Nm (51.5ft-lb) from the Shimano motor directly into forward drive seemingly without any loss or deflection.”
The WOMB editor’s also appreciated STEVENS’ decision to provide the E-Scope+ with a comfortable geometry: The compared to the predecessor shorter top tube and taller head tube ”made the seating position less aggressive and therefore riding more relaxed.” Comfort was added by the RockShox fork with its ”reasonable 120mm of travel”.
Despite the minor complaint that for some testers the handlebar of the E-Scope+ could have been a little wider, they come to the ...
Conclusion: ”Consistent and reasonable (…) By using the Shimano E8000 e-motor STEVENS brings a new gun to the knife fight which is a great fit for this all-round bike.”
The STEVENS E-Scope+ is available in sizes 16", 18", 20" and 22" for 3,999 Euros at certified STEVENS dealers.
