The sporty, safe riding characteristics were then rewarded by the test editorial team with the top score in the "Riding characteristics" section.
The high riding comfort of the E-Strada is based on a skilful components and well thought-out design. Grips with palm rests, a seat post that is not too stiff and the carbon fork that flexes slightly ensure a comfortable ride even on longer tours through the city.
The 2x11-speed drivetrain from Shimano offers a wide gear spread, so you can go a little faster. This ensures that the E-Strada 8.3.4 FEQ can be easily moved beyond the 25 km/h assistance limit without any great effort. The low pedalling resistance of the Mahle X20 rear hub motor makes the E-Urban Bike seem almost like a classic bike without electric assistance. "You can make your way through the city at a correspondingly fast pace, as you are slightly stretched out over the handlebars", says the test editorial team.
The wide gear spread of the drivetrain also helps on the climbs. Not least supported by the "remarkably light" weight of the E-bike of 13.8 kilograms, which, according to the test riders, ensures a lot of "bike light-footedness" on uphill sections.
The high-quality hydraulic braking system with "snappy and reliable" 160 mm brake discs is powerful on the descents and, of course, on flat terrain. The 40 millimetre wide Schwalbe G-One all-round tyres impressed the test editors with their smooth rolling characteristics and - thanks to the gravel tread pattern - good grip on and off paved paths.
ElektroRad also gives a very good rating in the area of safety, because "with additional LEDs in the seat post and high beam function, the Hamburg-based company has taken the safety aspect into account extensively", according to the magazine's test riders.
The STEVENS E-Strada 8.3.4 FEQ once again scored full marks for "usability", and thanks to the optional luggage rack available from specialist dealers, the "Fully Equipped" FEQ everyday specification can be completed.
The ElektroRad editorial team's verdict: "The sporty character of the Stevens E-Strada 8.3.4 FEQ is aimed at performance-orientated riders. The drive train is just as impressive as the handling, looks and safety features". In addition to a score of 1.5 and a "very good", the bike also scored five out of five points for value for money and also earned the editorial recommendation!
