A powerful Bosch motor, an almost maintenance-free belt drive and NuVinci’s stepless gears – the overall package made STEVENS E-Carpo a “fast and comfortable” bike, summarizes the test report of the Urban Pedelec with its stand-alone, laterally rigid frame design.

E-Carpo’s highlight and very comfortable was the stepless gears that are shifted electronically and keep a cadence preset by the rider no matter how fast you travel, the report says: “This feature is very comfortable even if the feel for speed gets lost a little.” This principle makes this bike a real treat to ride, especially on flat terrain, just like the “very high quality” specs including voluminous and comfortable tires, stable fork with thru axle, bright front light and powerful, but well controllable brakes.

Therefore E-Carpo got the best grading in the categories “field test” and “specs”. Besides the drive train editors were also convinced of the distance covered by the Urban Pedelec’s rechargeable battery.

Conclusion: Bosch motor and NuVinci gears work in perfect harmony and make Stevens E-Carpo a fast and comfortable bike.

Well-equipped City Bike with appealing design
STEVENS E-Courier Disc Di2 is a classic City Pedelec that is available with men’s frame, open frame as well as Forma-/step-through frame. Editors of Focus magazine chose the Forma model as they considered it a typical example for the good price-performance ratio “the Hamburg-based bike manufacturer is known for.”

As far as the price-performance ratio was concerned E-Courier scored with its reliable Bosch Active Line drivetrain, a well-built frame with “beautifully made chainstays”, Shimano’s disc brakes and Di2 gears. A small actuator in the hub makes E-Courier’s eight gears shift.

In order to do so a simple keystroke at the handlebars suffices. Editors noted that the hub switched gears a little “notchy”. Pressure had to be slightly taken off the pedal – a construction inherent characteristic of hub gears (tip: you usually get used to taking off pressure from the pedal very quickly as experience shows, it furthermore extends the service life of any gears).

The distance covered by the Pedelec’s system with its 400 Wh rechargeable battery was comparatively long which is due to the comparatively low weight of 24 kg that was praised by editors just like the appealing optics.

Conclusion: STEVENS E-Courier is well equipped for riding in the city and for covering short distances. Shifting comfort, however, cannot quite live up to what Di2 promises.
