Bikers can chose from different versions of STEVENS Jura. The marathon fully is available in STEVENS’ size split either with 27.5“ wheels or with 29“ wheels. Most of the specs like Shimano’s XT/SLX parts, Rock Shox Reba fork and Monarch’s suspension are mostly the same with all bike versions. The editors of O2-Bikers opted for the larger wheels.
The testers liked the modern geometry of the aluminum frame with long front and flat steering angle as well as the steeper seat tube angle and concluded: “This bike in this price range is clearly made for touring with an upright seating position.”
120 millimeters of spring travel at the front and at the back are the entry level at STEVENS. For O2-Bikers this sufficed for unlimited riding joy, “the manoeuvrability is very precise, the tires – Schwalbe’s easy rolling Racing Ralph at the front and the anti-skidding Nobby Nick at the back – were chosen very well.”
The bike was not afraid of demanding terrain – on the contrary, “it remains stable all the time and can be ridden so playfully that you almost regret it has no lowerable seat post.” As the frame is the same as the one the higher priced models are based on, it was no problem to upgrade it, however, be it a lowerable seat post (whose connection to the handlebar’s remote control can be tucked away in the frame) or even lighter wheels in order to make the bike even more reactive without affecting the riding characteristics.
The positive overall impression was not really surprising, said the editors, “already in previous tests STEVENS bikes convinced with their geometry and their price-performance-ratio.”
The editors concluded: “Jura is a mountainbike which is strongest in touring and turns out to be an impressive trail bike on downhill passages.”
STEVENS Jura is available with 27.5“ wheels in frame sizes 16, 18 and 20“. In 29“ version the entry-level model of the marathon fully is available in frame sizes 18, 20 and 22“.
