Lisa Perterer summed it up right after the race: “I am very pleased with my performance!” The Austrian triathlete had every right to be, she swam, rode and ran her best international race so far.
“During the swim leg, pouring rain and thunderstorms rattled me quite a bit.” The rain also had flooded the demanding bike course, featuring the notorious Corkscrew Hill which had to be climbed ten times on the 40-km bike stretch. Lisa Perterer on STEVENS Comet: “I remained calm and kept it safe.
But the road was slippery, really crazy!” In the subsequent 10-km run Lisa still had fresh legs and almost made it to the podium finishing fourth. Ahead of her Katie Zafares, Jessica Learmonth and Joanna Brown crossed the finish line first.
So Lisa concludes her report: “I am gladly looking forward to my next race in Yokohama, Japan!”
