In the finale of the Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series on September 18th the organizers confronted the riders with five stages which required utmost endurance and skill. Permanent rain that began pouring Friday night also did not make it easier.
Sunday, 9:41 p.m.: Veronika enters the 36km (22.3mls) circuit. Knowing she had the chance for the overall win the STEVENS MTB Racing Teams enduro rider made it her goal to finish the race safely and without fault.
A few hours later it showed that Veronika had chosen the right tactics especially considering the weather. With constant good placings in the stages at position two and three she took the win of the day and also the series’ overall classification.
Veronika said after the race: ”In the beginning of this year I never had thought that a win like this in my first enduro season would be possible – but my Stevens Sledge Max seems to work really well.”
Last season Veronika Brüchle had been cross country racing and had been successful in the Eliminator Sprint. 2013 she became German Champion in that discipline. Riding her Sledge Max she was instantly successful this year. After reaching a podium spot in the enduro race of the 2015 Riva Bike Festival, she continued this year on the same level.
In the 2016 Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series she constantly ended up on the podium by finishing 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st. Already in July she had won the Bronze Medal at the German Championships – one of four medals for the STEVENS MTB Racing Team.
Also her team mate Alessandro Sepp kept his momentum and, despite crashing in the penultimate stage, rode to his best seasonal result in place 24. In the final Elite GC he finished good as 36th of 115 riders. ”With this being only my second enduro season and my first in the Elite category I can be really pleased”, Alessadro said after the race.
