The STEVENS 8X Disc Lite Tour is superb, says TrekkingBIKE in their test report. The bike weighs in at only 12kg (26lbs., 7 oz.) in frame size 52cm and combines many characteristics that look contradictory at first sight: ”Seating position is sporty but relaxed; riding characteristics are agile yet stable; lateral stiffness is high yet riding comfort is great due to some smart tricks; plus feel-good ergonomics.”
Riding comfort is supported by lateral stiffness that converts most of the pedaling force into forward motion and by the rigid fork that offers some ”comfortable flex” at the dropouts.
Hydraulic disc brakes also contribute to comfortable riding due to their easy operation and precise modulation. The light wheels provide ”great potential for townline sprints”.
Shimano XT shifting components work ”super crisp” in every kind of terrain. Supernova E3 head lights and rack-integrated LED tail light from Busch & Müller literally deliver a ”glaring” performance.
TrekkingBIKE’s editors also praised the modified pannier rack with a strut running below the fender. This design now offers enough clearance even for wider tires. Also the 1.7mm thick fenders from Curana are almost immune to vibration.
Conclusion: ”Flawless specs; well-designed frame-fork-set; perfect ergonomics.”
The STEVENS 8X Lite Disc Tour in Velvet Steel is available in the Gents’ version in five frame sizes from 48 to 61cm for 1,599 Euros from your local STEVENS dealer.
