Touring pedelecs have to fulfil a lot of demands, says E-BIKE in its current issue about pedelecs for weekend trips. All eight bikes in the test were attested above-average endurance, so ”they’re capable of more than an easy weekend tour along the Danube Bike Trail.”
The best tool for trouble-free touring fun is therefore ”a reliable, sturdy, well-fitting and easy to operate bike that still makes you feel good after many, many kilometers.”
One of these bikes is the STEVENS E-Triton Luxe Lady-Version with a low top tube (trapezoidal frame). E-BIKE had a positive verdict about the classic in STEVENS’ pedelec range: ”The E-Triton show great craftsmanship and is well spec’d.” This means an air suspension fork and the precisely shifting Shimano XT derailleur shifting. Good specs also meant disc brakes though the brakes from the Deore range found on the bike wouldn’t quite match the other high-quality parts, the editors noted.
The high-quality frame and specs contribute to quite a low weight of 22.4kg (50lbs) for the test bike in 54cm frame size. The bike also showed good handling without cargo. Of course, with loaded pannier racks handling in curves was a little slower, which was totally normal, the editors said. This was more than compensated by the powerful e-drive that added a great deal of riding fun. ”The Bosch Performance motor has no problem to powerfully accelerate the E-Triton”, the editors said.
Compared to the other drivetrain designs in the test field, the Triton Luxe Lady’s Bosch mid-mount motor - directly attached to the bottom bracket and combined with Shimano XT shifting - came in second and was certified precise shifting performance.
Conclusion: A Light touring pedelec for ladies. Great craftsmanship, powerful e-drive, well-balanced and very comfortable to ride.
