The Gavere shows that STEVENS has a strong presence in cyclocross, TrekkingBIKE’s editors said about the four-season all-rounder from Hamburg after a lab and road test in their June 2017 edition.
While its racing genes are reflected by the narrow 33mm tires its geometry and specs are obviously oriented towards versatility, according to the testers: ”with a longer wheelbase and more relaxed handlebar height it’s a little more comfortable than a full-fledged cyclocross bike and it can accommodate fenders and a pannier rack.” With average-size shoes you won’t experience any front wheel clearance issues even when fenders are mounted. Everything else could be told after a test ride.
The least expensive bike in this test did not need to be scared by the competition in terms of specs. The mechanical disc brakes for example are identical to those mounted on higher priced models and obviously worked just as well maybe because of well-selected good-quality brake cables.
The editors verdict: ”A bike without any obvious drawbacks in specs and geometry”. They also praised its good value-for-money: ”A very good result in this price range.”
The STEVENS Gavere is available in sizes 47, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, and 62cm.
