STEVENS Courier Luxe was an eye-catcher at very first sight the test in the current issue of Radtouren starts off with. Editors liked the pragmatic looks – a mixture of modernity and classic elegance reflected in details like the rear lights integrated into the carrier, the small but strong Busch & Mueller head light and the smart color scheme: “The matte silky-smooth anthracite adds color without being flashy”, the piece reads.
Also when taking a closer look testers discovered quite some things turning the STEVENS Courier Luxe into a “thouroughbred city bike”. They especially liked the low-maintenance belt drive that is splash-proof, rain- and dirt resistant: “Thanks to the unlubricated belt also pants remain clean. In combination with the hub gear system you are perfectly equipped for riding the city.”
Furthermore, the clean, low-maintenance specs did not carry weight: With slightly more than 14 kilograms Courier Luxe is STEVENS’ lightest city bike. “Setting off is accordingly easy”, applaud Radtouren’s editors. STEVENS Courier Luxe wheels the city almost outrageously smooth, pedalling feels effortless. “Probably Continental’s tires contribute a big part to dynamics”, editors conclude and praise the braking power of the generously dimensioned disc brake (180mm) that worked exactly how testers wished for it to work.
Editors criticized, however, that the 640mm handlebar was “unusually wide for a city- or trekkingbike and reminds rather of a mountainbike“ which made pedalling on mud and leaf-covered paths a little more difficult, but all in all considered STEVENS Courier Luxe a bike to ride on “like on clouds”: “A classic city bike with addictive potential.”
