Yet, since the head tube is not too short, the seating position is comfortable enough for road bike beginners, the editors state.

Weight-wise the San Remo is on the lighter side of the field of bikes sold by stationary dealers, which was also due to the light-weight wheelset. The Fulcrum Racing Sport wheels and Continental Grand Sport Race SL tires in 25 mm width made “the bike nimble and agile”.

The complete Shimano Tiagra drivetrain shifts just as well as the more expensive and one additional gear-featuring Shimano 105 group, according to the testers. The gearing with a compact 50/34 teeth crank and 11-32 teeth cassette even allows riders in “average shape” to climb mountain passes.

For the fast downhill the bike was just as suitable since “the San Remo descends in a very calm and secure fashion, offering solid brakes and high ride stability.” The finishing kit from STEVENS’ in-house brand Oxygen also left an impression of high quality. With its range of eight finely-graded sizes the San Remo was at the top of the test field.

Conclusion: The San Remo excels with agile and comfortable ride characteristics that not only convince beginners. The specs are well chosen.
