In the final phase of the Individual Time Trial in Ponferrada, Spain, 1st place and standings were constantly changing. So there was a lot of movement in the Hot Seats near the podium where the current leaders are allowed to take place. Meanwhile, Ann-Sophie Duyck was in the seat for 2nd.
But when German National ITT Champion Lisa Brennauer came in at 38 min 48.16 sec – 51 seconds faster than Duyck – this meant a final 5th place for Ann-Sophie Duyck, which still was great, especially since not many had considered her a top-5 contender.
Fighting the clock, Lisa Brennauer was faster than Anna Solovey (+18 seconds) from Ukraine and Evelyn Stevens (USA, +21 seconds). Brennauer’s team mates Mieke Kröger, U23 ITT European Champion, and Trixi Worrack came in 4th and 10th respectively.
In the morning of the same day, German Lennard Kämna already had won the World Champion title in the Juniors’ ITT.
