The STEVENS Aspin was suitable for any hobby race like the Hamburg Cyclassics as well as for riding passes in the high mountains, Tour says in its April 2016 edition. Like e.g. the Pyrenees pass which the ”classic in Stevens’ model range” is named after.

According to Tour, the Aspin’s overall ride quality is due to its stiff frame and good specs. ”The stable, black-anodized frame is quite light at 1,275g (2lbs, 13oz). With a complete Shimano Ultegra gruppo it is also well spec’d for a bike of its price range. The 50/34 cranks and wide-range cassette make it suitable for climbing. Spec’d like this the STEVENS Aspin weighs in at 7.8kg (17lbs, 3oz). Its overall geometry make up for nimble handling and a sporty seating position.

The finishing kit somewhat balances the otherwise quite stretched-out position. The bar tops curve a little backwards towards the rider. The saddle from Stevens’ in-house brand Oxygen was very comfortable if its shape fits you.

Note: Beside the pedals saddle and handlebar are one of three contact points between rider and bike. If they fit you depends on one’s individual measurements. When purchasing a bike your certified STEVENS dealer can adapt it to your personal preferences, if you wish. Only when a bike really fits you it stays fun to ride even on the final kilometers of a long tour or the fifth alpine pass.

The standard tires also don’t need to be replaced: ”The 25mm top-of-the-line tires from Continental only add to the flawless ride quality.” Additional arguments in favour of the Aspin are ”lots of bang for the buck” and a choice of eight frame sizes.

Conclusion: Light, stable and well-spec’d aluminium racer with stretched-out seating position. Sturdy and functional. Climbing-friendly gears, top tires, eight sizes. Great price.

Using the STEVENS-Custom-Configurator the Aspin Custom can be spec’d to personal requirements with one of nine gruppos, an extensive selection of wheelsets, handlebar widths and stem lengths up to your favourite colour of bar tape.
