Panamericana is a system of highways that stretches the entire continent of America. Along its 25,000km (15,500mls) from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego – or the other way round – you cross different climate zones and unique landscapes like the vast tundra of Alaska, the Pacific coast, South America’s jungles and the impressive mountains of the Andes with their high-altitude passes.
This is added by cultural diversity from the so called American Way of Life to that of the indigenous people of the South American rain forest.
No wonder it’s a dream for any long-distance bike traveler. Kamran Ali is living this dream right now aboard his STEVENS P18 Lite. The software developer with German passport started his journey at the beginning of the year in Ushuaia, the world’s most southern city in Tierra del Fuego, Argentinia.
On January, 14th, he wrote in his Facebook diary: ”For many bike travelers this city is the starting point of their journey. Time will tell if I can reach Alaska.”
In 2015 Kamran Ali already had traveled from Turkey to Pakistan, his land of origin, riding a STEVENS X8. Why he wants to continue discovering the world? ”I don’t know exactly, I just want to go outside, see what is out there and make my own experience, without taking care whether I can use it later or not.”
His STEVENS P18 was specced and adjusted exactly to his needs by Bikers Best from Munich. His adventure is supported by STEVENS Bikes, Pinion GmbH and Gates Carbon Drive.
Kamran Ali invites everyone interested to follow him on his Facebook page Kamran on Bike. Depending on internet access he will write weekly entries. He will provide short but precise description of nature, the life of local people and co-travelers he will meet during his journey. He will use his camera to describe the beauty of his experiences as close as possible.
