”The guys from Hamburg outfitted their areo racer with their brand’s tried and trusted seating and steering geometry”, Procycling says after road testing the STEVENS Arcalis that features a rather race-like seating position. Procycling continues: ”The bike is very agile and also very stiff – at least stiff enough for our Procycling sprinter.” Which means a lot since that sprinter and test rider is Marcel Wüst. He was a professional racer until the year 2000 and amongst others won 14 stages at the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España.
Proycling continues in their preview of the next season that in 2016 road bikes will not look much different that the previous years. A continuing trend was aero optimization that now gets along quite well with low weight.
Which is also the case with the STEVENS Arcalis: In frame size 58 the complete bike weighs in at 8.1kg (17.8lbs). The aero racer is new in the standard range with seven sizes from 50 to 62cm. As one of the major aero features the editors point out the carved-out seat tube, the tightly-fitted to the frame fork, the thin seatpost and the rear brake mounted behind the bottom bracket.
With a price for the complete bike of 2,499 Euros with Ultegra specs the eye-catching aero racer is just as attractively priced as it looks fast. With these specs and features the Arcalis enters the 2016 season almost unchanged.
Conclusion: ”To make it better – considering its good performance throughout - really would not be easy…”, says Procycling.
The STEVENS Arcalis is available as an Ultegra build in the standard program for 2,499 Euros and in seven sizes from 50 to 62cm. The frameset sells for 1,399 Euros. In the STEVENS Custom-Programm you can choose from nine component groups and ten wheelsets and the bike costs between 2,199 and 4,799 Euros.
