The new STEVENS Izoard Pro is a true competitor, the RoadBIKE editors said in the test report in their April 2018 edition about the entry-level carbon road bike with Shimano Ultegra drivetrain and DT Swiss P1850 Spline wheels.
Selling for about 2,200 Euros the Izoard Pro was one of the “simply good road bikes” with its sturdy carbon frame and high-class true and trusted Shimano Ultegra shifters - a very sought-after combination, according to RoadBIKE.
Especially the wheels made “the Izoard (Pro) really go fast”. The specs are flawless as usual. The semi-compact cranks combined with a large 32-teeth cog at the cassette fulfilled the expectations in a sporty tourer. So the Izoard Pro indeed was a “can-do-it-all bike for ambitious frequent riders”. Also it was one of the lightest stationary-dealer sold bikes. The new Shimano Ultegra R8000 group offered even smoother gear changes and its rim brakes are even a little more powerful.
You sit on the bike notably stretched-out but without too much of a saddle-stem drop. The seating comfort was added by a “sufficiently compliant rear triangle”. The lay-out of the front end, though, was of the sporty, tough kind. Handling was consistent with the seating position: “The Izoard (Pro) keeps calm at all times, is a smooth and never snappy steerer, rolls along just nicely and loves to accelerate.”
All in all the Izoard Pro with its true and trusted drivetrain including 32-teeth bail-out gear, its rear triangle compliance, praised 25 mm wide Continental Grand Prix 4000s II tires and moderately sporty seating position checked all the boxes what makes a decent and stylish bike to climb the namesake pass in the French Alps.
Conclusion: Willing, reliable, flawless specs – the well-balanced Izoard Pro especially wins over ambitious touring cyclists. Best-in-test brick and mortar bike.”
