An affordable aero bike with powerful brakes: STEVENS Arcalis Disc won the 2016 Design & Innovation Award. The bike was awarded this price by the jury around the Enduro MTB magazine for the winning and innovative combination of aero optimized frame design, riding- and operating comfort and optimum brake performance of the hydraulic disc brakes.
Especially the aero carbon seat post with extra cavity and the 25mm tires offered a lot of riding comfort on the varied roads around Kronplatz in Unesco world heritage nature park Fanes-Sennes-Prags in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. On downhill sections the full benefits of the well modulated braking power of Shimano's R785 disc brakes were noticeable – and the precision and reliability of the complete Ultegra 2x11 drivetrain was constantly noticeable, too.
Furthermore the price of 2,799 Euros at a weight of 8.39 kg (frame size 56 cm) offers an affordable price-performance ratio.
In autumn of 2015 a jury of 40 members from ten countries tested, analyzed and rated current road- and mountainbikes at Kronplatz in the Dolomites within two weeks.
Enduro MTB magazine's Design & Innovation Award aims at honoring the season's best and most innovative bikes. The jury consists of international journalists, designers, engineers, World Cup starters and marketing experts.
Unlike comparative tests the overall rating comprises factors like design, performance, quality, ergonomics and comfort, weight, sustainability, ethical aspects, innovation factor or the philosophy behind the development. STEVENS Arcalis Disc is the winning combination of the most state-of-the-art technical trends.
STEVENS Arcalis Disc is available in sizes 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60 and 62 cm. Via the STEVENS Custom Program the model can be indivdualized by equipping it with a choice of five different groupsets starting with Sihimano 105. Frameset including seat post is available, too.
