Strongly sloping top tube, short wheelbase and with 440 mm the shortest rear end in the test field: “This Stevens bike is consistently constructed like sporty mountain bikes“, wrote editors of eMTBtouren – a special edition of Radtouren magazine – about STEVENS E-Scope+. The length of the chain stays largely determines the bike’s agility – the shorter, the more agile the bike’s handling becomes.
Test riders were won over among others by the compact Shimano motor that had the biggest ground clearance as well as the highest torque in comparison to the other bikes in the test: “These make E-Scope+ a trail rocket.“ It did not have a negative impact that the motor only had three instead of five support levels like other bikes. Gears were chosen well and could be changed intuitively. “The Steps motor comes like an elemental force when needed, an amazing feeling“, testers enthused.
The 2.8“ wide plus tires were often criticized as sluggish, editors wrote, but they coalesced sensibly with the e-hardtail’s motor: “The wide 2.8“ plus tires provide good grip and give a sense of security and comfort, no space problems with the frame!“
The slightly higher weight is easily compensated by the motor, whereby E-Scope+ with its weight of 19.3 kg was the most lightweight bike in the test anyway. This was one of the reasons why E-Scope+ won the test.
Conclusion: “STEVENS convinces with a consistent thought out concept. (...) A fun machine without any notable weak points that even provides riding fun when the battery is empty!“
STEVENS E-Scope+ is available in sizes 16‘‘, 18‘‘, 20‘‘ and 22‘‘.
