Tour’s testers liked the STEVENS Izoard very much in their test of carbon road bikes with an entry-level price of around 1,500 Euros. Together with other candidates it was awarded the top mark of 2.4 (1 = best, 6 = worst) and scored as a ”fair package with a well-balanced frame”.
The frame, combined with a full-carbon fork, made ”an almost classic impression” due to its horizontal toptube. It featured well-balanced construction, sporty seating position and moderately swift steering. With seven sizes, closely stepped in 2cm increments, most riders will be able to find a frame to fit them.
Tour says that even with bikes for less than 2,000 Euros, carbon has become the standard frame material. The tested frames performed better in terms of weight and comfort than their equally priced aluminium counterparts. At prices of around 1,500 Euros Shimano’s 105 groupset is the common weapon of choice because of its flawless function, like at the STEVENS Izoard. The STEVENS Izoard comes standard with Continental GP4000S tires, ”which have earned their merits and make a huge difference on the road compared to the rest of the field.”
The individual scores of frameset (2.2) and specs (2.5 – best in test) make up the overall rating of 2.4. A size 58 frame (1,087 g/ 2lbs 7 oz.) and fork plus specs weigh-in at 8.1 kg (sub 18 lbs). Also explicitly well-received was STEVENS Crash-Replacement-Program frames as part of its warranty for carbon frames.
Conclusion: „Fair package, many, finely stepped sizes, generous warranty, functional specs, premium tires”
