STEVENS’ trade show booth was a major attraction at this year’s Velofollies, Belgian’s leading bike fair, which took place January, 16th to 18th in Kortrijk. The show, located close to the French border at Lille was attended by 35,000 visitors - a 5 % plus over last year’s edition, according to the hosts – to have a close look at current bike collections. STEVENS Bikes exhibited a broad spectrum of road, trekking, mountain and pedal electric bikes from its current collection.
Ralf Peintinger, from STEVENS Bikes export staff said: ”From our trekking range models like our Galant Lite and Randonneur Lite received a lot of attention with MTBs it was especially the Sonora ES.” This model will be the Belgian youth team BTT 123’s weapon of choice for the upcoming season.
An eye catcher to draw special attention at the booth was the STEVENS Super Prestige in a special camouflage design ridden to Dutch (and later World) Championship by Mathieu van der Poel of Team KCP-Powerplus, which was placed in front of a wall display in the same colour theme.
“The huge interest in ‘cross bikes proved once more that cyclocross is an iconic sport in Belgium”, said Julian von Hacht, of STEVENS Bikes export department.
Soon autograph cards of teams BKCP-Powerplus and Corendon-Kwadro, both equipped with STEVENS Super Prestige bikes, were out of stock. Also there was a great demand in the specially made team posters.
STEVENS booth saw competent supervision by STEVENS’ Belgian distributor Carbonbike and STEVENS brand ambassador Olaf Ludwig. The former Olympic Road Champion and Tour de France stage winner took care of customers and welcomed pro cyclists like Ann-Sophie Duyck, Belgian National Single Time Trial Champion on STEVENS Volt and Belgian former Road World Champion Johan Museeuw.
