Sören Nissen won the Danish National Mountain Bike Marathon Championships aboard his STEVENS Sonora SL. He finished the 3 x 25km course at Silkeborg in 3:15:57 hours, 4 minutes ahead of runner-ups Benjamin Justesen and Bundgard Jensen.
”I am totally satisfied with my performance on this perfect day”, Nissen said. ”My preparation, my form, my great Sonora SL with Lauf-fork, the high quality of the material supplied by my sponsors and the support of my friends and family.”
This is how Sören described his perfect race: ”It was tough right from the beginning and after the first lap there were only five of us in the head group. In the second lap Benjamin Justesen attacked on one of the steep hills, but couldn’t drop me. At the end of lap two I myself attacked and was able to break-away by a great margin. Later in the course of the race Sören could keep Justesen – the 2014 Marathon Champion – at a distance and was able to ride his own rhythm.
Until August 2016, when the next Danish Championships will take place, Sören Nissen will represent Denmark in all international races aboard his STEVENS Sonora, sporting the Danish Champion’s jersey.
Victory at Kellerwald Bike Marathon one week before
Only one week before, Sören Nissen was successful in his first marathon race of the season at the SKS-Kellerwald Bike Marathon in Germany, where he also finished first. The 18th edition of that race featured first-class competition. ”I was able to distance myself from the pack together with Christian Kreuchler who rode along for two laps until I could drop him. I fought hard, but felt good on my STEVENS Sonora SL.” He had tested his race bike that was equipped with a Lauf fork from the Icelandic manufacturer of the same name to his full approval.
