For the 2015 road season, Germany-based Team Stölting has high expectations. They are riding on STEVENS Xenon bikes painted in the Stölting team design. For the time trials, they will be on the STEVENS Super Trofeo bikes. At the team presentation in zoological gardens Gelsenkirchener Zoom Erlebniswelt - surrounded by monkey enclosures and bats on the ceiling - Euro Sport cycling moderator Karsten Migels presented the newly formed team as well as its goals.
With its UCI Continental status and 14 riders surrounding their captain Silvio Herklotz, the team wants to especially race in the classic events. The riders kick off in early march – in their new orange-white kits – at the two-day race in Croatia and then it’s onto the Istrien Spring Trophy.
This is followed by the pro races in Germany such as the semi-classic “Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt”, the Bayern Rundfahrt stage race and the classics event "Rund um Köln".
With the team’s goals in mind, they will contest a mainly European UCI schedule of events to include the German Bicycle Association’s races as well as the national championships.
Amongst the top riders are the German junior time trial champion Lennard Kämna and U23 national time trial champion Nils Politt. In addition to some experienced riders like James Early (29) from New Zealand or Ole Quast who contests the cyclocross races in the winter for STEVENS racing team, the team is strengthened by its young talent. Alongside 18 year old Kämna are 18 year old Sven Reutter and 19 year old Manuel Porzner who is the team’s sprinter.
