Reta Trotman won the 2014 Women’s Federal Cycling League Series. With a win at the three-stage event Albstadt Race, which took place from Friday to Sunday, the New Zealander, starting for team maxx-solar Cycling on a STEVENS Xenon even expanded her lead in the series’ GC.
In Albstadt, Trotman had won the second stage and reached other good placings. The stage race did nothing to alter the first three positions in the GC, which had been the same since the second race of the series. Overall second went to Esther Fennel of Koga Ladies, who had won the third stage of the Albstadt race, third place was won by Trotman’s team mate Corinna Lechner.
With a first-stage win at Albstadt, STEVENS-Hytera rider Stephanie Borchers improved from fifth to forth rank. In the U23 category Sophie Lacher and Jessica Lambracht demonstrated their exceptional strength. Their double victory confirmed their coaches’ (Eric Schneidenbach and Steffen Kempendorf) ambition to build a team with talented young female riders.
With Trotman’s overall win, Corinna Lechner’s third and Esther Fennel 7th place, Team maxx-solar Cycling, led by coach Vera Hohlfeld, also dominated the team competition.
Two Rodiecks in the Top Ranks
Albstadt stage race was also the Juniors’ Federal League finale. Twin sisters Inga and Wiebke Rodiek, riding for Team Swiss-o-par on STEVENS Xenon bikes, finished third and forth to secure a double victory in the series’ final GC, while former leader Lisa Klein was absent.
Klein had suffered a triple collar bone fracture at the Track World Championships and finished the Cycling League in 3rd place. Places 1, 3 and 4 of Cycling Federal Leagues’ overall single classification have been won on STEVENS Xenon and Ventoux bikes. The first two places in the U23 class also were achieved by STEVENS riders, who also conquered all three podium places in the Juniors’ competition.
