His fifth World cup win – and his 19th of the current season – at the WC race in Heusden-Zolder may have been the last for Mathieu van der Poel aboard a STEVENS Super Prestige. His Beobank-Corendon team (or Beobank-Circus as it will be known from January 2018) will partner with a new bike sponsor.
Mathieu van der Poel rode STEVENS bikes for the first time between 2008 and 2011 and in 2015 - at 20 years old – became the youngest ever elite Cyclocross World Champion aboard a STEVENS Super Prestige. Since then the grandson of Raymond Poulidor and son of Cyclocross World Champion Adrie van der Poel has continuously progressed as a rider, not only in cyclocross but also on the road an in mountain biking. In summer 2017, for example, he won a stage of the Belgium Tour and became second in the MTB Cross Country Weltcup in Albstadt.
Since 2015 Mathieu van der Poel also became Dutch National Champion twice and is the current European Champion. In addition he celebrated many victories, especially this season, mostly in an inspiring and almost every time in superior fashion. ”We thank Mathieu van der Poel and his team for years of best and most respectful cooperation and wish him all the best on his way, lots of luck and success”, says STEVENS CEO Wolfgang von Hacht.
This cyclocross season will continue with the races in Loenhout (Dec. 28), Bredene (Dec. 29) and Diegem (Dec. 30).

Even in the final races of the year Mathieu van der Poel gave proof of his class. He wins the race in Loenhout, becomes second in Bredene and his last victory aboard a STEVENS Super Prestige is also his 21st of the season. As many races as during the last season altogether. In the finale he had enough time to celebrate and enjoy his victory and to carry his bike - in a special World Cup paintjob – over the finish line. A bike that had made him so successful in the last couple of years.
