Iceland is a special place: Scarcely populated, marbled by glacial lagoons, waterfalls, geysers, fjords, and volcanoes. No wonder that the Blue Lagoon Challenge taking place there is not an ordinary mountain bike race. It is 60km (38mls) long with moderate 600m (1968ft) mostly over gravel roads.

In the swimming leg Ricarda already left her mark and came out of the water in first place after 25:44 minutes, closely followed by Anja Beranek and Julia Gajer. Beranek who eventually won the race quickly rode ahead on the bike while Ricarda Lisk on her STEVENS Super Trofeo and other chasers were fighting for the podium places.

In the Tour Rhône Alpes (UCI 2.2) in France and in the Internationale Berner Rundfahrt (International Tour of Berne, Switzerland, UCI 1.2) Team Vorarlberg presented itself in good shape and showed great team work. Also the stage and one-day races in France are to the team’s liking: Over four stages the team rode very actively and Clément Koretzky was in good mood.

The initial situation for the athletes on STEVENS Sonora SL: The UCI World Cup in Albstadt was a premiere for Antonia Daubermann and Christian Pfäffle, who both for the first time started in a higher racing category: Antonia Daubermann (18) in the U-23-class, Christian (23) in the Elite category. Accordingly, they had to start further behind in their respective grid.
