In general, the frame construction and the quality of the E-8X Tour were very well received by the MYBIKE test editors, because "the Stevens also plays in the first league in terms of workmanship". The magazine praised the "elegantly integrated [...] derailleur hanger in the dropout" – a constructive solution that not only looks good, but also offers high precision and practical robustness.
The extremely high-quality specification of the E-8X Tour is also practical. "In terms of specification, the E-8X Tour leaves hardly anything to be desired: XT brake system with 180 [millimeter] discs front and rear, twelve-speed XT rear derailleur and Bosch CX drive with Kiox display and headlight with high beam function are a real statement in this price range," the magazine finds. Thanks to the powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor with 85 Nm of torque, "[...] in terms of the drive unit [...] the Stevens has the edge". However, just as quickly and easily as the E-8X Tour reaches the electrically supported 25 km/h, it is also slowed down again thanks to hydraulic disc brakes, because "[...] on the Stevens even a high-end model from Shimano brakes". More precisely, the Deore XT BR-M8100 with ergonomic Deore XT Touring brake levers for first-class ergonomics and dosing, tried and tested in mountain biking.
The other features of the bike are designed for fast, sporty progress in the city as well as on the big tour across the country. The active riding position thanks to an adjusted stem length and wide handlebars results in a balanced weight distribution even when the bike is loaded, as the centre of gravity moves forward. "The sportsman in the tourer test field is lively and agile even with luggage on the carrier," note the MYBIKE test riders.
In order to cover a wide range of use, the E-8X Tour is equipped with versatile all-road tyres. "The ride comfort is high, [thanks to] 50 millimetre Conti Double Fighter tyres, the Stevens also feels comfortable off paved roads," say the MYBIKE test riders. The versatility of the bike was worth a top mark to the MYBIKE test editors in practical use and is thus also reflected in the overall mark of 1.5 and the test victory.
