‘A discovery for commuters and city cowboys’ is how the bi-monthly trade magazine describes the entry-level model in the world of STEVENS Light Assist E-Urban bikes.
The testers particularly emphasised the sporty design of the E-bike. ‘You sit in a slightly sporty, stretched-out position, but quite comfortably [...] the slightly offset, pleasantly medium-width handlebars in your hands and you want to get going,’ said the MYBIKE test editors.
But it's not just the geometry of the lightweight aluminium frame and the associated riding position that is impressive. The sporty and elegant two-tone paint finish and frame details such as the polished weld seams and internally routed cables and hoses also met with great approval from the editors.
The E-Strada 6.3.4 FEQ is powered by a Mahle X30 rear hub motor. It offers a torque of 45 Newton metres and therefore more than enough thrust for most conditions. Thanks to the torque sensor in the bottom bracket, it starts ‘more directly and smoothly’ than its predecessor, the X35, for an extremely natural riding behaviour and ‘a lot of harmony’, according to the MYBIKE test riders. In addition, the extremely low pedalling resistance of the rear motor allows speeds above the 25 km/h limit to be reached without any problems, even over longer periods of time - ideal for anyone who wants to be particularly sporty on the road without wanting to do without electric assistance in strong headwinds or on inclines. For this, the MYBIKE editorial team awards the clear ‘Sport’ tip.
Shifting is handled by a Shimano CUES U6000 2x11 groupset, which has plenty of gear range for both fast and mountainous stages thanks to the double chainrings at the front.
The MYBIKE magazine - on behalf of all commuters - was also impressed by the rest of the specification: ‘Slim luggage rack fitted with Ortlieb (QL3.1) adapters, a fine tyre profile, robust metal tyre protectors - it's all there!’, according to the editorial team.
The bike leaves an all-round positive impression. ‘The E-Strada 6.3.4 manages the balancing act between riding fun and utility. Corner seeker, speed ladder, late arrival preventer ... with the well-equipped, silent glider it's fun - even without motor assistance,’ summarises the MYBIKE editorial team, for whom the bike is a “very tempting offer”.
