Laurens Sweeck extends World Cup lead

A second place behind three-time Cyclocross World Champion Wout van Aert secures the 29-year-old Belgian important points to extend his World Cup lead. His direct competitor Eli Iserbyt had to be content with a seventh place at the first cyclo-cross World Cup on Irish soil.

Victory at the UCI Cyclocross World Cup for Laurens Sweeck

After his first big international victory at the World Cup in Maasmecheln, Laurens seems to have broken the knot, because already on Friday the 29-year-old Belgian was able to take the victory at the high-class Superprestige race in Niel, Belgium.

"It took us two hours to cover 10 km in one day."

After a year of planning, the two friends and fellow students left Göttingen on 18 October for Hanover and from there on to Amsterdam. Then they made the leap across the pond to Buenos Aires in Argentina. From there they took a domestic flight to the starting point of their adventure: Ushuaia at the southern tip of the South American country.

First European Championship gold for Emiel Verstrynge

UCI World Cup with podium finishes

Annemarie Worst was able to keep up her form from Fayetteville and took home a 3rd place. For Emiel Verstrynge (Crelan-Fristads) it was the first World Cup race of the season. He would finished third in the U23 class.

The two friends and fellow students want to cycle the Carretera Panamericana, which is considered the longest continuous road in the world. They will cover a good 30,000 kilometres, almost three quarters of the earth's circumference, in the one-year project. In addition to their own (border) experience, they will also collect donations for World Bicycle Relief.

10th national title for Sören Nissen

The race was held in La Roche-en-Ardenne, Belgium, as part of the Belgian National Championships, which were held on the same day, ensuring a high-quality field. The demanding course of 35 kilometres had to be tackled three times and offered a total of 3500 metres of altitude, most of which was ridden on single trails.
